Season 8 Trailer - Sweet Tea & TV Enters Its Golden Era

Nikki: Hey, Salina. Hey, Nikki, and hey, y'. All. Welcome to Sweet Tea and tv. Feeling good to be back in front of the mic, huh? Huh?

Nikki: As long as I'm not on video. Feels great.

Nikki: Feels great. We needed the break from the podcast night. I would argue we still need a little bit of a break, but I think it's time. It's time to dive right back in.

Nikki: No one will let me retire to Shady Pines yet. Not yet.

Nikki: Not yet. And what a great transition into this season because we are leaving Atlanta in our minds and our hearts on the microphone. And we're taking a direct flight to Miami, where we're entering our golden era in our minds again. so what better way, Salina, to kick off our journey than to take a quiz before we start this season? Take a quiz and figure out which golden girl we are.

Nikki: I'm here for it.

Nikki: And I think in your mind, you have already picked a golden girl for yourself.

Nikki: Yes, Immediately. Maybe in the first scene of the show.

Nikki: So then that means you're either the, cook or Dorothy. The cook who's in one episode.

Nikki: I'm like, the cook has a name.

Nikki: Coco. Yeah, I couldn't. It didn't come to mind at first. That's good. Either Coco or Dorothy. in my mind, you're a toss up between Dorothy and Sophia. Okay, so, you know, Sophia says what she wants. You're getting there.

Nikki: Getting there. Slowly. Dorothy is strong of will and strong of opinion.

Nikki: I don't know what you mean, Nikki.

Nikki: So as you get strong of opinion and strong of will and that filter falls down, I feel sorry for the people of the world is what I'm saying. You know what I mean?

Nikki: I feel excited for them and maybe sad for my husband.

Nikki: They should be so lucky to know how you think all the time.

Nikki: Oh, God. okay, well, I think I know who you would be too. And I'm gonna hold that. You want me to say or do you want to say?

Nikki: You say. Okay.

Nikki: Why does it on 1, 2, 3.

Nikki: Rose. I wish I had said Coco.

Nikki: What if we all, at the same time, we said we said Rose with a hint of Dorothy on the side?

Nikki: That would have been just a little dash of Dorothy. I wish I had said that too. All right, hold on, let's rewind it. Let's just say that again. Okay.

Nikki: Let's really screw that up.

Nikki: So froze with a dash of Dorothy. I appreciate that. I love Dorothy so much.

Nikki: Yeah, yeah.

Nikki: But I have that, like, annoying. Not recently, but normally I have that annoying positivity. Of Rose. I get, When we get later in the season and we see her competitive streak, that's gonna come out for sure that I have that with her. but, yeah, it's of. Of them all, she makes the most sense to me.

Nikki: I think that's right. That should have said Blanche.

Nikki: I hope. I. I would. I would give money to be Blanche, but I'm just not nearly as cool as she is. Not nearly as cool.

Nikki: We'll see. There's still time.

Nikki: There's still time when we can change our minds. As we learn more about the characters and the actors who play them, maybe we have more in common with them than we think we do.

Nikki: I am, very interested to see who I actually get here, especially since these quizzes are. You know, they're never perfect. They're perfect.

Nikki: They're never perfectly perfect, But Disney does some things right. Not all the things, but they do some things right. And so I found this quiz on Disney.com, which we can link in the show notes, if folks want to take it themselves. but it's just a list of questions, and we'll just go through and answer them. I can ask. And then I can ask about you, and then you can ask about me. Does that work?

Nikki: That works for me.

Nikki: Eddie, Miles, Salvatore, Charlie, Rocco, Lucas, George, Jake, Steven, Ted, and Rex.

Nikki: I'll have you know that any of those could be. Not Blanche. Definitely not. That last one with seven people's names. I'm gonna go with Lucas.

Nikki: Okay, I'm gonna go with. I'm gonna go with the last one. Jake, Steven, 10, and Rex. Those are great names.

Nikki: I love it. You enter your Blanch era. I don't know how much Kyle will love it.

Nikki: here we are. Anyway, if I threw a party and invited everyone I know, the greatest gift would be a brooch in the shape of a turkey head, homer's odyssey, the 2014 hunks of Miami beach calendar, cash, Bob Hope tiered earrings, gift cards for Shady Pines, or a trip to Walt Disney World.

Nikki: I have no reason for this, but I'm just gonna say Bob Hope.

Nikki: Okay.

Nikki: Yes, I know who it's gonna give me, and yes, I'm gonna do it anyway.

Nikki: I'm going with the trip to Disney World.

Nikki: Yes, that.

Nikki: Yes, I know who it's gonna give me. All right. My ideal night would include curling up with a good book, poker night with friends, doing some volunteer work, bowling, cooking up a family recipe, one that doesn't end until the next day. I had to say it like that. Spending quality time with my pets. Spending quality time with my significant other.

Nikki: I'm gonna say curling up with a good book.

Nikki: Oh, wow. Interesting. I thought you loved Casey. I'm gonna go with spending quality time with my significant other.

Nikki: He's usually there in the background. I just do whatever I want, and.

Nikki: He does whatever you guys. Whatever. Passive marriage works for you guys is fine. Good for you, though. Pick, a Disney character. Salina, Hercules, Hades, Grandmother Willow, Tarzan, Olaf, Mr. Ray, Tweedledum, or Mushu? Mushu. You want quick answer? Musho. I'm, going with Olaf.

Nikki: Okay.

Nikki: Flamingo.

Nikki: I was worried that would happen at one point for one of us.

Nikki: And you knew which one it was. Right. I tried to back out. It's like, nope, no can do.

Nikki: All ruined now.

The most important quality to me in a significant other is compassion

Anyway, I was going to pick gingham, but now I've picked flamingo. Okay. The most important quality to me in a significant other is compassion. Age, preferably younger. Sense of humor. Good listener. Intelligence, Looks, wisdom, or a pulse.

Nikki: That pulse is important, but, you know, because you can't get to the rest of these without that. but I'm. Sense of humor.

Nikki: Samesies. Okay.

Nikki: And look, I picked the right one this time.

Nikki: Good for you. Dang it.

Nikki: here, let me give you a break there for a minute.

Nikki: Okay?

Nikki: I'll take this one on. I'm just like, man, she's having to read a lot of answers. All right. Pick a Disney song. I'll make a man out of you. What's this? Mother Knows Best. Fix her upper. Go the distance. Do you want to build a snowman? Following the leader or Bella note.

Nikki: Okay.

Nikki: This is so hard.

Nikki: It's tough, but I'm gonna go a pair of earrings.

Nikki: Oh, see, this is hard for me because I always wear sunglasses. Minor wayfarers, but they're not that retro. I don't even own a straw purse.

Nikki: Well, we could change that if you'd like.

Nikki: I might have to. denim vest is such a nice option. I'm going with pair of earrings, too. Sorry.

Nikki: Okay. no need to be sorry. These are tough decisions. You know, my favorite social community is Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, bridge club. I'm gonna be a butt and just say bridge club. Yeah, you, too.

Nikki: I'm going with bridge club. But my. In my neighborhood, it's bunko, but same idea. So it's more enjoyable to be with people actually in person, doing a thing versus doing it on social media.

Nikki: Okay. I just feel like I'm gonna say, in case you are like, are you guys about to do this for 35 questions? There's two questions left.

Nikki: Do you think people are wondering that? I think people are on the edge of their seats wanting to hear the next question.

Nikki: Absolutely. Pick a place at Disneyland. Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Main Street, USA or New Orleans Square. Oh, God. Okay, I got mine. What's yours?

Nikki: Well, I've never been to Disneyland, so I'm gonna base it on my knowledge of Disney World. I'm gonna go with Main street, usa because I love merch and shopping.

Nikki: Okay. And I'm going to go with Fantasy Land because I love fantasies. Okay.

Nikki: Whatever works for you.

Nikki: Okay. So we're gonna cover Golden Girls this season

Nikki: I'm going to let you deliver this last question, Nikki. Oh.

Nikki: Pick a slice of cheesecake, Salina.

Nikki: Yeah.

Nikki: Strawberry.

Nikki: Okay.

Nikki: Ricotta, chocolate, raspberry, chocolate caramel.

Nikki: I'm going to go with ricotta.

Nikki: Boom. I'm gonna chocolate caramel.

Nikki: See, you're not gonna pick that for you. honey, What? You got Blanche.

Nikki: Did I really?

Nikki: You did.

Nikki: Look who you got. Salina got Dorothy. You are a born leader, extremely loyal, and have a knack for quick comebacks. Your well of knowledge is deep and broad, like your shoulder pads. Despite your tough exterior, you're willing to exhibit patience.

Nikki: Don't you think that would have been rose flamingo necessarily? I don't know.

Nikki: I think Sophia.

Nikki: Oh, yeah.

So we're gonna cover Golden Girls this season. we're gonna approach it a little bit differently than we've done Designing Women. So everybody can listen in to episode one, where we're going to talk about our new structure, this new season for us and, how we're gonna, how we're gonna approach Golden Girls. So you can stream it on Hulu, you can stream it on. It's on Disney plus, but they just basically redirect you to Hulu. But it's easy to find Golden Girls. I also think I have the DVD box set in my basement. Oh, wonderful. Not saying. Just saying.

Nikki: Blow the dust off that. And also you can buy it from prime if you just want to have all of it.

Nikki: Is that what you did?

Nikki: No.

Nikki: Oh, okay.

Nikki: But I might by the end, who knows? Because, I'm looking at all the platforms we have, and one of them has to go away.
